As good as ever

"Comfortable. Perfect for hiking."

Icebreaker shorts look better, last longer, more comfort

"Excellent quality, very comfortable. Muscular, 5'9"", 220lbs 36 inch waist-38 inch size fits perfectly. I have other Icebreaker shorts that lasted 10+ years while less expensive shorts faded/wore out"

Excellent quality shorts

"This blend of fabrics for shorts is amazing, it's difficult to find a good pair of merino wool shorts that exist, let alone a pair that actually looks like a pair of functional shorts rather than pajamas. I have quite large legs so I needed to size up 2, so I would recommend ordering a few sizes and trying them, most are fine with 1 size up, the waist did up for me fine, but my legs didn't fit as the fit is quite tight. The shorts are very good quality and feel very premium, not only that the fabric they are made of the merino wool mix is fantastic, it means they don't pick up odors, they dry super fast, and they look like a really nice pair of shorts. They are great for hiking in all conditions, whether it is dry or wet, and they look like casual clothes instead of performance hiking clothing which they are. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for something stylish to wear on their hikes"

High quality pair of shorts

"These shorts are some of the most comfortable and highest quality I've worn. Very well constructed with quality materials, you can tell from the feel and wear these are shorts you'll hold on to for a long time. I had to size up a full size to fit as mentioned in previous comments."

Nice pants

"Good hybrid of wool and cotton, which makes it more durable ,and not get shrink (the most concerning I have for the wool products) and it's machine washable and not problem with dryer . Color is good . I'm 61 kg and 175 cm , M size fit well though S size works for me as well but just a little tight , overall M size feels more comfortable."

Size Up. Very Sharp Shorts; Make Men's Style with a Pleat

"The fabric on these is tightly woven and stiff in a good way. They are some of the sharpest looking shorts for the outdoors that I've seen (granted definitely the most expensive). If you've felt the women's hike shorts material or the men's hike pants material, this is stiffer. I'm usually a 28 but the 30 fits perfectly; size up one size. It would be better if Icebreaker made odd numbered sizes as well; I'm swimming in the 32s but worry the 30 will shrink in the wash. There could be slightly more room in the leg for movement and a crotch gusset; lifting one's leg causes the short to rub the top of my thigh slightly. Without stretch a little more room is needed. The stitched logo on the back is horrendous; I recommend Icebreaker remove it or at least make it a color that goes with the pant. Or, come up with a subtle sheep-based icon instead of ""Icebreaker"". The teeth on the zips on the back pockets make it a little rough to put my hands in. If there were a shorts style with a little more interest than the standard men's shorts these days (a gusset to start - perhaps pleats, and a slightly higher waist and wider leg in a nod to vintage shorts) that would be excellent and elevate these shorts. The material and workmanship is there but why look like all the other shorts on the market?"

Comfy and practical shorts

"Had to exchange for M though that was much more down to my unusual shape/size but very pleased with another great buy"

Absolutely buy 2"" (1 size) larger or more

"I love Icebreaker and have bought loads of it over the years – more than enough to know that some pieces are flat-out incorrectly sized. I have a 33"" waist and find that being between sizes has a big advantage: I can safely buy 34"" pants and tailor them down if necessary. (USUALLY that's the case – I've bought both 32"" and 34"" pants/shorts from Icebreaker that fit perfectly without alteration. ) Having read these shorts are terribly undersized and unforgiving as activewear, I went ahead and ordered a healthy TWO sizes up (or, 1. 5) – I got the 36"" waist, and found I needed to take in the waist precisely 1"" for a perfect fit. Having bought a much larger size addresses any concern about it's being forgiving enough to hike in, and now I find these are pretty comfortable and excellent for hiking. Size issues aside, I like the unique 'Green Glory' colour, the comfy front pockets, and the HUGE zippered back pockets (strangely wide enough to fit TWO wallets side-by-side – or a large paper map!) The fabric is fantastic, too: a light/medium weight canvas that doesn't feel too stiff or coarse and seems like it'll last forever (I have FAR thinner icebreaker shorts that prove remarkably durable. ) Of course, the colour is loud and there's a big, uncool 'icebreaker' printed on the butt. In conjunction with the sizing issues, you might give these shorts a miss. But if you can make them work as I have, I think we'll each have these green canvas shorts for life. (**BTW, this has 2 buttons on the waist (ie. a 'french bearer' button). I notice these are spaced exactly 2"" apart, and I wonder if that's where the sizing error came from: they measured around from one button to THE OTHER, without accounting for the 2"" between them!)"

Poorly designed, large Icebreaker advertising on the rear

"These are sized very small, you'll need to purchase at least one size up for them to fit. But even at one size larger, these shorts are very snug, which makes them poor for hiking, even though they are sold as ""hike"" shorts. Worse, the Icebreaker logo is prominently embroidered in white thread in large letters on the seat, so you will be advertising Icebreaker as well."

Gulley (2/5)

Poorly designed for active-wear. Much too tight.

"Fabric feel and weight: as you would expect from Icebreaker, wonderful. Fit: very form-fitting and tight. I went up a size and they still fit too tightly. They are billed as hiking shorts, but they fit so tightly that I couldn't lift my leg without the shorts restricting my movement. For the first time I am returning these for a refund."
