"Love the fit. Despite the 300 weight it is lighter than expected but super warm"

"icebreaker US gave me this free product to try called RealFleece Descender LS Zip icebreaker 300 Real Fleece Long Sleeve. I only had time to test the jacket outdoors once before the review was due but I did get in a 20 mile mountain bike ride in peak fall leavesI found this layer to be super comfy. The merino wool is thin extremely soft breathable and remained comfortable in a wide range of temperatures thanks to the naturally temperature regulating properties of merino wool. The other great thing about the merino is no odor. I sweat a lot on a 20 mile/3k vert bike ride and this had no smell when I got home afterwards. This is a great outer layer for a brisk run/bike/hike or it will be a great mid layer this winter while skiing. As far as the fit. I’m a short 5’2 and icebreaker small usually fits me perfectly. I love the fit on my shoulders and I love the slim fit (everything else I own is more baggy) but the arms and torso length are way too long for a size small. This would fit a skinny person 5’6-57 perfectly. This would be a 10/10 if the fit was better and if they sent me that topaz color instead of the yellow haha. Love that color. Big thanks to icebreaker US and @expertvoice for setting me up as part of this free product testing program. Oh. And be warned! It must be a testament to the quality but moths love eating my icebreaker clothes. they always go for icebreaker before my other merino things. They got to this one QUICK *shakes fist at sky*"

"I wore the 300 RealFleece Defender long sleeve zip jacket on two back to back long weekends ice climbing as my main layer to test out how it would hold up. Even in a high degree of wind chill I didn’t have to layer up unless I was completely stationary yet I could hike the approach without overheating. Plus this jacket dried quick enough in the late afternoon sun I could wear it to bed and stay toasty through the night. I would recommend this as a perfect fall mid layer or a winter base layer. For all my efforts it didn’t get much of a funk after all the abuse. 5 stars in my book. I’m glad icebreaker US gave me this free product to try and I look forward to wearing it all touring and snowboarding season."

"I'm a big fan of natural fibers and merino wool is one of my favorites. It breathes well doesn't get stinky after days of use and always washes up nicely. This is a great mid layer for hiking and I suspect it will be as good for snow sports. It is soft enough that you could use it as a base layer but the full zip lends it more to the mid level. The fit is a little loose and long I’m 6’1/180lb and the size large fits big if if you prefer a snugger fit I suggest sizing down I've noticed this to be the case with icebreaker in general. The sleeves come with thumb holes and the collar zips up high and tight. There are two zippered pockets on the outside and two internal patch pockets. This jacket is available in several colors and I was sent the periwinkle it wasn't my favorite but it is nice and bright and almost high vis! It has definitely grown on me over time. Over all this is a solid addition to your outdoor gear closet!icebreaker US gave me this free product to try."

"This midlayer is an exceptional piece of gear to add to your kit! Predominantly used for trail running through the Oregon Cascades the RealFleece™ merino blend delivered a surprising amount of warmth without weight excellent breathability and natural odor resistance. The athletic fit thumb loops and offset seams make it comfortable under a running vest or day pack. A top-tier technical fleece for endurance athletes who value comfort and versatility. My only qualm (besides the color) is the sizing and pocket placement. I would have loved to see a chest pocket for phone/keys etc. The lower pockets provide too much pull and bounce for heavier objects. The sizing seems to run fairly big. I had to shrink the M down to fit more like a small. Adding a hood to this model would make it stand out even more!"

"I liked the feel of the jacket. It was soft and I felt like a large which is what I normally am fit well. I took it on a camping trip and used it as my main base layer/light jacket the entire trip. It was at high elevation late summer so it was cold at night and even in the mornings still and I felt it did very well. Breathability was in my opinion a little too good to make it a good light jacket just because it is very breathable so it doesn’t act as a wind break. Which is fair because that’s not really its purpose. As a base layer I felt it kept me quite warm overall had no issue with its ability to insulate. I wore it everyday I was out and it stayed clean and didn’t take on any dirty smells despite hiking and actually getting it dirty on the trip. I liked it a lot. I continue to use it and I recommend it as a soft base layer or even a light jacket if it’s not windy. I also thought the fit and design of it was awesome. Really great jacket I’m glad I had the opportunity to product test it. icebreaker US gave me this free product to try."

"icebreaker US gave me this free product to try. Starting off with the fit it is a perfect fit and is what you should expect true to size to be. it does a good job regulating body temperature during active use. on warmer fall days it does great as a stand alone jacket. I think those 50-60 degree fall days is where this thing shines. it works nicely as a mid layer when temps drop into the 40s. I've worn it days on end without washing it and the merino properties show odor control was as should be with merino wool. I find it to be comfortable to wear and of good quality."

"We are rolling through the shoulder season in NW Montana and that means unpredictable weather ranging from warm and toasty to snowing and windy. I always appreciate a layer that is useful in a wide array of applications like the Zip Jacket and I am a sucker for a full zip. It kept me warm high in the mountains but I didn’t overheat on warmer days. I work in outdoor recreation retail and we are currently receiving our winter layers in the store. I would highly recommend the Zip Jacket to anyone looking for a do-it-all winter layer you could use alone or in a system. My main complaint is the fit of the layer. I am a fairly small person but even the Men’s Small had very long arms and a torso to match. It wouldn’t be a problem while using it as a base layer but wearing it as a top layer jacket with running shorts felt a little awkward. Overall I am stoked to continue using the icebreaker 300 Realfleece Descender LS Zip Jacket throughout the winter!"

"Icebreaker generously sent me this product to try for them and share my experience. I tested the full zip base layer in the mountains and canyons of SW Colorado as well as just around town. Here’s my thoughts. 1. Quality of the materials is fantastic. Lots of stretch but holds up well to wear even under a pack. 2. Great layer for chilly conditions. Wore it in temps into the 40s and I was comfortable without being too hot. I tend to run hot but this jacket rode that line well. 3. Fit wasn’t for me. If you have a lean long athletic build this would be for you. I’m shorter and not as lean so it was quite snug. I know baselayers are supposed to be but this bordered on too snug. 4. Leaves you covered in fibers after you wear it. Leaves behind lots of small wool fibers on anything else you are wearing. Not a huge deal but was unexpected. 5. Not lightweight. Not advertised as super light but it’s got some weight to it. If you care about ounces when you’re active maybe not for you. Overall it’s a great layer for the right person. The quality lives up to Icebreaker standards for sure."
